Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.
I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I'm being productive when I'm really just procrastinating. Here's a big list of all of my favorite stuff.
Workstation
Desktop PC from 2018
I'm using a pc equipped with a i3-7100, GTX 1050TI and 16GB of RAM. I've been using it for 3 years now and it's still going strong. I've been thinking about upgrading it but I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to it.
LG 22MK600M-B 21.5 inch IPS Full HD LED Monitor
Best budget monitor but not best for graphics work or gaming. I've been using this monitor for 2 years now and it's been decent.
Logitech G102 LIGHTSYNC
Best budget and entry level gaming mouse with double click and scrolling issue. I've been thinking about upgrading it.
Gigabyte Aorus AGC300 Gaming Chair
If I'm going to slouch in the worst ergonomic position imaginable all day, I might as well do it in an expensive chair.
Everyday carry
Huawei Nova 2i RNE-L22
I've been using this phone for 3 years now and it's still going strong. It's a great phone for the price. Not planning to upgrade it anytime soon because if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Xiaomi Mi Urban Lifestyle Backpack 2
Really loved this backpack. It's lightweight and has a lot of space. It's also water resistant and has a laptop compartment. Most importantly it has a very simple and clean design.
ASUS VivoBook S15 Laptop
This laptop comes with AMD Ryzen 7 4700U processor and AMD Radeon Graphics with 8GB RAM which are more than enough for my needs. I use it when I'm on the go.
Development tools
Visual Studio Code
I've been using VS Code for since the day I started programming. It's a great editor and it's also a great IDE.
Sublime Text 4
I only use it while doing competitve programming. It's fast and lightweight.
WSL - Windows Subsystem for Linux
I use WSL for running Linux commands on Windows. All linux goodness without leaving Windows or dual-booting. Makes web development a breeze.
Design
Photoshop
I've been using Photoshop for a long time. It's a great tool for image editing.
Illustrator
Not a professional designer but I've been using Illustrator for a long time.
Figma
Though I'm not a designer, I've been using Figma for prototyping and designing UIs rarely.
Productivity
Notion
Using a daily notes system instead of trying to keep things organized by topics has been super powerful for me. And with Notion, it's still easy for me to keep all of that stuff discoverable by topic even though all of my writing happens in the daily note.
Focus
Simple tool for blocking distracting websites when I need to just do the work and get some momentum going.
